Stockholm-based Lovable raised $400 million in fresh capital at a $13.3 billion valuation, catapulting the AI software-development startup into the upper tier of Europe's private technology companies. 

Lovable's product sits in the fast-growing category known as "vibe coding," where a user types out what they want built in ordinary language and the AI handles the actual programming underneath it. No syntax, no debugging by hand, no computer science background required to get a working product out the other end.

What makes the number more striking is how young the company actually is. Lovable only launched commercially in late 2024, meaning it went from a new product to a $13.3 billion valuation in under two years, a climb that's fast even by the AI industry's already compressed timelines. For comparison, plenty of well-established SaaS companies took the better part of a decade to reach a fraction of that valuation.

The competitive backdrop makes the bet even bolder. OpenAI, Anthropic, and a wave of well-funded rivals are all racing into the same coding-assistant space right now, each with research budgets and existing user bases Lovable simply doesn't have. 

Investors putting $400 million behind a Stockholm startup in that environment are making a real wager that a smaller, more focused product can carve out lasting ground against giants building similar tools as a side feature of much larger platforms.
